GRAND OPENING DAY

The first day’s play of the South East Cricket Association was a beauty with highlights aplenty across all grades and a bunch of players starting the season with three figure scores.

Bentleigh ANA made a good fist of it after winning the toss and taking first hit against East Sandringham.

New East opening bowler Tom Hilton began well snapping up a couple of early wickets after ANA had made a brisk start but Natives opener Matt Withers and skipper James White turned it all around with a brutal 180 run stand.

Both had centuries there for the taking but fell just short, Withers first out with the score at 209 for 85 which included eleven fours and four sixes and White following in the next over for 89 which included thirteen boundaries and a six.

The rest of the ANA batsmen lost their way a bit as East Sandringham fought back in the last hour only Khair Mohammad with a resourceful 36 following up the top orders good work.
